Founder story

Natalie and Rob

Hi Earth-lovers! We are Natalie and Rob, spouses and founders of Ardent Earth.

We are both long-time vegan environmentalists and are dedicated to doing our part to address the climate crisis. When we first dipped our toe in the sustainable, vegan lifestyle, we found that we were spending insane amounts of time researching various products. Some items were vegan but not cruelty-free. Others were made with “natural ingredients” but would trigger a reaction to Natalie’s Multiple Chemical sensitivity or Atopic Dermatitis as they were stuffed with synthetic fragrances and petrochemicals.

It was SO time-consuming and frustrating to find products that met both our physical needs and values. We were like, “It would be so much easier if there were just one place we could go to without having to do hours of research and still be conscious-consumers!”

So, we created one. Ardent Earth takes the time and stress out of being an eco-conscious consumer. We do all the research, so you don’t have to.

Our Philosophy

low waste & sustainable | vegan & cruelty-free | safe & healthy

Low waste & sustainable
We are committed to eliminating single-use plastics by providing reusable alternatives for many of our everyday disposable items. While our priority is stocking plastic-free and plant-based products, some of our items contain minimal amounts of plastic. All plastic present in our product packaging is BPA and phthalate-free and can be reused or recycled.

Vegan & cruelty-free
You may think that all vegan products are cruelty-free, and all cruelty-free products are vegan, but sadly, that is not always the case. For us, we will never compromise our values on this. Animals are not here for us to experiment on, eat, wear, or take advantage of in any way. The Earth provides humans with every plant and mineral we need to thrive, so why resort to cruelty? Not to mention, raising animals to use for mass production also requires vast amounts of land, water, energy and increases our greenhouse gas emissions.

Safe & Healthy
We are passionate about providing people with entirely healthy products for them to use in their homes and on their bodies. With Natalie’s Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, we experienced many days where she would be hit with a migraine or asthma attack triggered by a new “natural” product. We never stock products that contain phthalates, artificial musks or synthetic fragrances. All of our scented products use only 100% pure essential oils and list all ingredients. We care about your well-being and believe you have the right to be an informed consumer.

Upcycle My Home

All of our knowledge and values eventually lead to creating our OWN line of products, Ardent Earth Upcycled. This line utilizes deadstock fabrics and other repurposed materials that would otherwise go to landfill. All of these items are sourced and handcrafted by yours truly and are available exclusively at Ardent Earth.

First Nations Medicine Wheel

We acknowledge that our business operates on the Ancestral Traditional Territories of the Ojibway, the Anishnabe, and the Mississaugas of the New Credit. The Upper Canada Treaties cover this territory. Ardent Earth respects Indigenous peoples and recognizes the role of treaty making in what we now know as Ontario. We see those that came before us and acknowledge the privilege we have received to be here today.

The world is moving in this direction, and we want to be a part of that movement, do you?
